Becoming a Master Marketer - Evaluating an Opportunity

Monday, July 17, 2006

Relationship Marketing provides a very valuable and necessary service in the marketplace and because of this, there are fortunes to be made and dreams to be realized. There are many factors to consider when determining your opportunity of choice. By carefully evaluating the following factors, you will have a more clear understanding of what it takes for a company to stand the test of time. When a motivated person finds an opportunity that meets the following criteria, magic happens! When done correctly, I believe relationship marketing allows you to live a more purposeful, balanced life than you might with a traditional career.

EVALUATING AN OPPORTUNITY

By answering the following ten questions in each category, I believe you’ll be on your way to finding the ideal company.

The Product

Is the product highly consumable?
Will consumers purchase the product even if they aren’t involved in the business?
Is the potency and purity of the product guaranteed?
Does the company manufacture its own products according to the highest standards?
Is the product safe/low risk?
Are there noticeable benefits when consumers use the product?
Is there a money back guarantee?
Can the product be taken to international markets?
Can the product be consumed by men, women, teens and children?
Is there scientific research and credibility behind the product?

The Company

Is the company lead by a visionary?
Is the company managed by a reputable and skilled management team?
Has the company been in business long enough to have a proven track record?
Does the company have a good reputation within its industry?
Does the company hold its own even in economic downturns?
Does the company have solid financial backing?
Is there on-going communication between the corporate offices and the distributors?
Does the company provide exceptional support materials?
Do distributors have any input in company policies and decisions?
Does the company have plans for international expansion?

The Compensation Plan

Is there any pressure to front-load new distributors?
Is the compensation plan structured to foster teamwork?
Are there monthly group volume requirements in order to qualify for commissions?
Does the plan pay weekly?
Has every compensation check issued by the company cleared the bank?
Does the compensation plan promote depth rather than width?
Is there decent income possible for part-time involvement?
Is there a ceiling on the amount of income possible for serious business builders?
Does the compensation plan provide for quick, fair starting commissions?
Will your organization eventually “break away” from you?

Your Team

Is integrity evident in the members of your team?
Does your team provide support not available elsewhere?
Is cross line support encouraged on your team?
Do you and your team members have compatible values?
Does your team use manipulative or deceptive techniques to prospect new members?
Are the members on your team willing to do three-way calls with you?
Is there room for leadership advancement within your team?
Are you recognized and rewarded as a member of your team?
Do the members of your team celebrate your success?
Does your team encourage your participation without making you feel pressured?

Thank you for spending this time with me. I found the vehicle that helped me realize my dreams. I wish the same for you!
